TR 196 Holeshot Problem After PP Install

I have a 2006 196 with 200 Opti. Been running a 25 Tempest Plus since the day I bought it and it has always jumped out of the hole. Just installed 2 8' Blades (which I love, BTW), and noticed serious lagging in getting on plane yesterday. I did have 2 full livewells which hasn't been as much of an issue in the past. It eventually broke over, but took much longer than normal.

Any advice? In looking at the PP jack plate brackets, I could bring them up maybe 3/4". Otherwise nowhere to go there. Do I need to look at a different prop or set-up?

    Thanks in advance!

Make sure your PP brackets are not dragging water. Also might play with your PVS plugs on your prop.

I had to raise my jackplate some. The extra weight in the back will have your motor down in the water more especially during start-up.

Thanks. Brought the plate up about 1/2" putting PTP around 2.5. Brought the brackets up 1/2" or so which is as high as I can get them. We'll see how it goes.

Yep. I'm in the same boat. I've got 2 PP's and a 25p tempest plus too. My top end, I'm only getting about 68mph @ 5,100 rpm's on a 2004 Merc EFI. I should be up around 6k rpms. I've been looking around for a 23p tempest - but hate to buy one when I don't know if I need a 23p or 24p.

Definitely need a less pitch prop. I have a 02 TR19 with a 27T yamaha prop. Just added two 8' poles and it's a dog out of the hole now. Top end is still the same though
