Lets just compare to being a homeowner in Texas.

Lets say u make 150k a year (7.5% tax in Cali)
    U own a 750,000 home
and have 2 newer cars. (Cali $600 per car per year, 100 per car in Texas)
(not including sales tax or Federal tax.)

So in Cali my calculations is your tax is approx $19,500
In Texas, property tax is 2.5% to 3.5% in many cities. Your yearly tax is somewhere between 19k to 24k.

If your a homeowner in Texas your not getting that much better of a deal then California. A California 750k home, will be more likely 300-400k in Texas, maybe less, and that is where your savings come in, and interest charges on that home.

No income tax but we do have a hefty property tax. In my case I would prefer a 7.5% income tax and not a 3.2% on my home. I would save money. Makes sense for me, but probably not for non home owners.

I'd have to recheck my tax rate but I don't think it's anywhere near 3.2% here. Of course, we voted down building a $32M high school in this town of 3000 people.

I doubt u are either range is about 2%+ to 4% in some cases, in Texas. My home in Jasper is 2% I think, Katy is 3.4% actually in my area, 3.2% after homestead.

$87.00 for a F-350 dually diesel. Here in Proctorville, Ohio. And we only pay house taxes, no other property taxes , I love it
