    Over heating ?

2006 225 optimax 1b274779. While fishing I noticed a stranded boater. I offered to tow in 2 miles from the launch. I made it to shore but when I took back off I got a steady beep. Shut off immediately and restarted in a few minutes. No problem the rest of the day. Water pressure is over 20 at wot and no issues since. Could I have over heated the engine?

Highly possible -- Have not towed anyone in a LONG time.. The few times I pulled much distance was with the old Promax motors and they would get hot..
