Heres another option. http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread....stick+finished
Last years setup.Mike
it looks like you have a transducer on your Terrova?
If so, how did you run the wire from the transducer up the shaft ?
Old style with wire and silicone in groove of shaft.
New Terrova this year with this setup.

Very nice design and set up.

I think something like a hummingbird 360 mount would be cool. Then there isn't any extra to put up and down, it would go with the trolling motor.
YOU are not entitled to what I have earned!!!!!

If Panoptix was a 360 view, i would agree.
Problem with a spot lock Tmotor is the Panoptix transducer would always be moving as the Tmotor maintains position.
Mounted on a separate stick, the Tmotor can maintain position while you point/turn the Panoptix transducer at structure or suspended targets.
Guesss it all depends on what you fish for and how you do it.
I use HBs connected to the Tmotor and Garmin units.
Scan with Sideimaging and Panoptix, drop a waypoint on anything interesting, hit "Go to" on the graph and the Tmotor takes the boat to the waypoint.
Grab a rod as boat moves to waypoint and auto engages spot lock upon arrival, scan with Panoptix, catch fish.
The bird 360 is independent of the trolling motor. It doesn't spin at all. The transducer spins internally. So with the same type of mount you could put the panoptix transducer except make it a little longer or some small handle on top so you could spin it by hand. If I had one I would make one pretty easy. Only because I know whenever the wind blows my trolling motor won't be pointing at my target because I will be cross wind or upwind in spotlock mode. Then I could point the panoptix at my target or scan a little and make a cast without messing up the spotlock. All that without needing to mount another thing to pick up every time I move which can be a LOT running brush piles
TYes, I understand it does not spin externally, as I said, 360 view.he bird 360 is independent of the trolling motor. It doesn't spin at all. The transducer spins internally. The PS21 has a 45 degree forward view so you need to aim/scan the transducer.
Leaning out over the bow to aim/scan with the Panoptix would be difficult in my style boat but on a bass boat, maybe not so much.
Another problem is that most the the northern guys use the Terrova or Ulterra models in 60" or 72", so our Tmotor shafts are long and not stationary like the Ultrex style Tmotors.
Look forward to seeing something as you describe come to market.
What diameter of shaft would work best?
i have a design idea in my head, and it is utilizing a one inch diameter solid aluminum rod.
I think that would have enough stiffness in choppy water ? .
Im liking this idea of a separate "stick" more and more.

This is what I use on my tin boat. Not real handy if you move a lot but works great for me.
This is another nice system.
I needed mine to be removable as I don't use the front Panoptix all the time having a PS30 Panoptix mounted on the stern for trolling.
I believe he now has a system that rotates.

iMy current system is a 1' alum. tube.have a design idea in my head, and it is utilizing a one inch diameter solid aluminum rod.
I have a GT52 Transducer mounted on the bottom of the stick and the cord runs in the tube.
The Panoptix cords are on the outside of the tube
IHave a pic handy of that cylinder shaped setup?have one of these pole setups but had the guys there make me a cylinder shaped setup instead of the cone.
Out of town right now I’ll try to get one later, but looks exactly the same as the cone setup but a cylinder that fits in a sleeve. Works great other than putting a bit of stress on the plastic bracket. I see they sell a metal bracket now.
There are a lot of good ideas on this thread.
