    Steez SV TW

So, I have 2 steez a tw reels with upgraded 100mm carbon handles/knobs/bearings. Absolutely love them, but wondering if I'm missing out by not having a steez sv tw...? From what I've read, line capacity is less with the sv. Anyone have both reels and lean more toward one or the other?

I own both but all my Steez reels are custom built by Spanky at the Tackle Trap so they function above and beyond.Although he built me a Zillion sv tw and replaced the sv spool with an origanal Steez spool and it will outcast anything i own.

I own some of both. I replaced the stock spool in my Steez A's for the spool that comes in the Steez SV TW. Love both reels. The Steez SV TW was ready to go out of the box aside from a handle upgrade. The Steez A needed, for me, handle bearings and a better spool. Aside from that. it's an amazing reel.

I have both- added knobs and bearings to the A reel; the TW is stock. If you think you're missing something, grab an SV spool and put it in the A. I prefer the TW, even with the shorter handle, but need more time on the ater to explain why.

Both of my a tw feels have 100mm megabass carbon fiber handles with I knobs and bearings added. So, I would most likely do same to the sv if I bought one. My main concern is the stock spool capacity difference between the a and sv.

Using Sunline FC Sniper the SV spool will hold about 65 yds of #20, 90 yds of #16 and 100 yds or #14.

    It's a non issue. I use them /w 20# shooter, 16# sniper, 14# crank and 16# shooter. Zero issues /w line capacity.

The JDM 8:1 version has the RCS Steez SV1012 spool as opposed to the RCS steez SV1016 spool that is found in the others. Haven't used the 1012. Only the 1016. I hear good things about the 1012 but it is indeed shallower.

I have a 1012 spool in a Zillion SV TW P that I use to bomb spybaits and it will hold about 70 yds of #14 Sunline FC Sniper (vs 100 yds on 1016), about 80 yds of #12 (vs 110'ish yds) and 100 yds of #10. I have my 1012 spooled with #10.

Can you replace the sv1012 with a sv1016 spool on the JDM 8.1? Or what's the best option to have 8.1 gears in a steez sv with larger spool than stock?

Yes, you can drop the steez SV TW1016 spool into the 8:1 or any 34mm spool for that matter. Best way to make that happen is to find somebody to swap you spools. The 1016 and 1012 spools are $120 +/-. I got mine from japan tackle during a sale for $109 each. However, if you are going to pay outright for a new spool, I would suggest looking into the ZPI NRC PG spool at the Tackle Trap. That is my next spool for a Steez A. Have heard nothing but good things about the spool.

Man,thanks for the info! The JDM version of the steez a in 8.1 can be had for $100 less than a JDM steez sv 8.1 reel. So, would I be better off just buying the JDM steez a 8.1 and purring the ZPI NRC PG spool in it?

Yeah probably. The A obviously weighs more due to the frame material but they are identical in shape. Super small reels and ridicuoulsly smooth. The A just needs handle bearings. I believe the zpi spool comes with a zpi spool bearing. Not sure about side plate but if not make sure you grab one from the tackle trap when you order the spool. Make sure the spool matches the reel accents, too. Cant dress a pretty girl up in an ugly dress.

I thought this thread was about wondering if you were missing out by not having a Steez SV TW????

I'll get another 1012 spool some day and I will do a compete 180 of loading it with light line like I'm doing now. I'll load a whopping 25'ish yds of Shooter 25 onto it and when it came time to flip bushes in the spring at Toledo Bend, I'd drop that puppy into any one of my Steez SV's and flip away. Not every reel needs to be able to hold a lot of line all the time.....

Another spool option for you is the Zillion SV G1 1016 spool. When Tackle Trap has them they are about $70. I recall seeing a post a while back that compared the weight of the Zillion SV G1 1016 spool and the Steez SV G1 1016 spool and I think the Zillion spool was a whole half gram heavier. I'm sure the ZPI spools are nice but I can get two Zillion SV G1 1016 spools for the same price and have many more options on how I configure my Steez and Zillion reels.
