vz300 lower unit

i have a 2008 300 hpdi about a year ago i changed the lower unit oil when i drained it there was only about 1/2 pint of oil in it i have no oil on the outside or in the prop cant see any place it was leaking from so i refiled it. last week at the owners tournament it broke when i took it apart today there was no oil it it so any ideals where the oil is going only thing i can think of is the gear shift shaft seal

Hpdi lowers loose oil under way out the seals as the both face outward to keep water out. I will add up to 1/2 a quart per season depending on use. This is a common issue with these lowers. Cj
