    Fat shaft?

2007 300 XS SN#1E002970, I'm searching for a replacement lower unit, can someone explain fat shaft? I'm seeing a few for sale with a fat shaft and some without. How can I tell if my current lower is a fat shaft? Would this be beneficial in a bay boat?

1;25 prop shaft uses metal prop hub best for higher mounted engines / not in my opinion

Older LU's have a smaller diameter shaft. And require a different prop hub.
Not sure but I believe they changed over to the bigger shaft about your year model.. You need to find out which one you are replacing or your props may not fit.
