    UFP A-60

I recently took my boat out and on the way to the water and home it would hit hard when I took off and brake. When I got home I was checking it out and don't see anything unusual but I can push it in by hand there is very little tension the brake fluid is full.

I am going to bleed them tonight should this help or could I have other issues?

    Thanks
    DB

It could. If you have drum brakes they might need adjusting.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

There is a small gas shock that can go bad in there that can cause that also.

When you start bleeding the system make sure all of the brake pads are there.

Your gas shock is toast! You can replace it. Depending on how old your accuator is it might be a better idea to replace the whole unit.
This way you get everything new.

X3, been there, done that. Save yourself lots of headache during the process and just get a whole unit. Pretty easy to swap out as long as the pins are not frozen in place. Had to drill mine out and it was a pain. Once pins was out it went back together easy.

Static shock. UFP never made a gas shock.

I've been messing with mine and it's only two years old. I would check and see that you're still getting a brake application on the disks. Also, for some reason, that master cylinder has to be bled before bleeding the rest of the trailer. Take the line off the back of the solenoid, or take the line off the first caliper and bleed until no bubbles come out of the master cylinder through the reservoir.

Lower the nose of the trailer and bleed uphill. Air bubbles go up.

DABS, you are most definitely the authority on trailer brake systems and your body of knowledge on the subject far exceeds mine but after having replaced one I really did also think this shock absorber was a gas piston.

Sorry, but it is static. As I said, UFP has never had a gas shock.

No need to apologize for my confusion. I think what led to my confusion was discussion with the trailer manufacturers about the “seals” blowing in the shock. I had falsely assumed if there were seals in it they were sealing something inside. Then assumed it must be oleo pneumatic like modern automotive shocks. Thanks for the clarification.
