    2002 225 EFI warning buzzer

Had an issue with a warning buzzer coming on right after start up the other day. I had just idled 50 yards or so into the ramp. Shut engine off. Backed trailer down. Started motor when buzzer came on and stayed on for 15 seconds or so. Had a good stream coming out of tattletale hole and gauge shown a few pounds of water pressure at idle. The engine has great water pressure while running as well. Now that I think back it has done this a couple times before and usually under the same circumstance. Water pump was replaced last spring. Any ideas?

That’s what I suspect as well. I guess I will start with them.

Thanks. While thermostats, poppet valve, gaskets, etc. are always POSSIBLE- you should ALWAYS, ALWAYS start AT THE SOURCE: The Water Pump.

It's an Annual Replacement item, anyway.

Thanks Don, I just didn’t suspect water pump because it has 2 to 3 pounds at idle and over 20 at wot.

I use to have the same problem a while back even after changing the water pump, after the thermostat and poppet valve change I never had that problem since.

In my experience If the warning is consistent with idling it is more likely the poppet rather than the thermostats, assuming the water pump is working properly. The water pump can't overcome the poppet valve stuck open at idle versus higher rpm.
