Comedy of errors to make that first triple. No excuse for the decision making behind that one. You made a mistake, take your medicine and limit it to a bogey. Instead he goes for the flop shot from the rough and it ended up just how most would have expected I think.

We will see, but I'm not so sure he's ready for this test.

Well Rory finished +10, Speith +8 and Phil +7.... so it sounds like plenty of top names are getting it handed to them......I don't get how some are so driven to see a guy fail....You see it in sports all the time....blows my mind..
Woods is 4 back of the leaders and just missed two chances for Birdie....Don't put a fork in him yet..
I would be willing to bet most of us have gotten a few snowmen on the first hole...

Dustin Johnson is looking like the guy that is going to be tough to beat..

Tiger playing really well aside from his inexplicable decision-making on #1.

Dustin Johnson is back tied after his bogey on 12. Tiger would be even if not for that triple on the first hole. Tough course.

I'm glad to see these even, and over par scores the way a major should be. I'd much rather see a test of golf than a -20 shootout.

This course is Taylor Made (no pun intended) for Justin Rose. I'd bet money he will be in the mix Sunday.....

Tiger would be 5 under and in the lead if he shot a 65, but that pesky 78 got in the way.

Scoring average of 76.5. Perfect US open. Love seeing these guys struggle. I know they hate it but they can tough out a golf tourney once a year. Birdie fest tourneys aren't that fun to watch. IMO

25 mph winds and bumpy greens. I don't feel so bad now shooting low/mid 80's in South Texas all winter.

Right now.....June 2018....DJ is the best golfer on the planet. Several candidates for a distant second. No one can roll their hands so far thru the swing like Dustin.....or reach the shoulder turn.

I like the quote from Rory: " The USGA thinks we are much better golfers than we actually are".

    Still not over yet.
As we saw yesterday with both Russell Henley and Poulter, all it takes is one mistake and you can quickly give back 3 strokes. DJ is playing great but he’s not infallible.
