    2003 Evinrude Ficht 150...

My old dependable Ficht is giviing me a new problem. When it is cold, it starts like a new engine but after running 10-15 minutes on the lake, fishing for an hour or so, it is hard to start. It kicks back like a bad Bendix but I put a new one in a few months ago. I can push the neutral button and advance the throttle and she fires right up, smokes a lot but starts. When I put her on plane she acts like she is flooded till she gets a little speed then runs good at 4000 rpms where I usually run her. A while back I cleaned out the pressure sensor in the lower unit because she was idling bad and it did the job. Now after running the 10-15 minutes coming in she doesn't idle very good again. I checked the sensor and it was clear. Wonder if the tube going up to the computer is dirty? Thanks for any help y'all can give. She has over 710 hours but sure has been a good engine. Forgot to add I just put in new spark plugs, indexed them all.

I open her up coming in once in a while, she'll turn 4800 and run 50 mph but don't do it very often. I make sure I'm coming in to do it.

Mine seems to run better the more I let her run. Same way with my older 225 Vindicator. When I stretched her legs out the better it ran.

Will do. I can tell you a little bit from my own experience from my 03 Ficht before a piston blew that the more often it ran over 5k rpm the better it ran. I have an 02 now and the previous owner rarely ran it over 2k and it's sluggish. Just replaced the thermostats and new plugs. Taking it out this weekend to see how it goes. Still going to take it in and have the fuel system cleaned. I may pull the injectors from the 03 and put em on the 02.

Is 4800 your max RPM at WOT?

That just seems super low RPM and should be in the 5600-5800 range.

check VST vent line for flooding

engine will run better if top rpm is 5300-5500 rpm. Years back the 150 redline was increased

If you see fuel in the line, you found your problem
