Garmin 73sv options for on plane readings

Wondering if there is a way to be able to have a shoot through transducer so that my 73sv can read bottom on plane. I know some mfg can switch between both? I have no way to read the bottom once I get on plane due to positioning of the current side view transducer that is just below the jackplate. Not real sure of what I need .

    Any help is appreciated

    thanks

Yes, but you will need the GT30, an inhull 2D transducer, and an adapter cable. Cable and inhull transducer needed vary depending on what specific echomap you have. Do you have a nonCHIRP, CHIRP, or Plus echomap?

Thanks for the reply, Todd. I am definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to sonar! It is an Echomap. It does have down vu. I am not sure on Chirp. I did not think it did. So I need the above to make that work?

    thanks

Need to know whether it is a CHIRP or nonCHIRP echomap to specify right adapter cable and inhull transducer. Either way, you will also need to buy the GT30 if you want to run the additional inhull 2D transducer. Transducer that came with your unit will not work in this dual-transducer configuration.

It is non chirp--thanks very much for your help. I did not get this info from the Garmin Reps--I was just told that it would not work. Thanks again

Not sure what you are referring to that won't work. If you get a GT30, a P79 inhull transducer, and the x-cable, it will work just fine. Under Settings, My Vessel, you then manually select "GT30 + P72."
