    ECU/PCM submerged - not working - repair?

    Hi,

I have bought a Mercury 40 hp 4-stroke that was fully submerged in brackish water for about 12-24 hours. Depth was around 3-5 meter.

The outboard was brought to a dealer for cleaning immediately after it was raised above the water.

According to the dealer, the PCM/ECU needs to be replaced.

Would it be possible to check and repair this PCM/ECU?

I would recommend you simply replace it. Odds for longevity (even if it could be repaired) are very low.
