Went to fish Fayette this weekend and decided to run my new 26p Bravo 1 XS. Running conditions were not favoring a good result. Air temp 97-98, water temp 94 (as high as 108 at the discharge), empty wells, 1/2 tank of fuel, full load of 30+ rods and enough tackle to restock BassPro, myself @ 240lbs, and two buddies @ 210lbs each. Boat has (2) 8ft blades, 36v/112# Ultrex, Solix 15 on the bow and (2) 12's on the console. This boat is HEAVY.
For all these runs I kept the jack plate at 3.5 p2p, including during hole shots. Could have done better if I had run my Atlas all the way down.
First run, tried it with all the PVS holes open. Motor spun up to 5100 on hole shot and the boat crept up on plain. Prop felt like it was trying to bite, but had way too much venting. Didn't even try to run it out to top speed.
Second run, after jumping in the water and installing (4) lrg PVS plugs in the holes closest to the motor, hole shot was still bad, but getting better. mid range felt great. Still didn't run it out.
Third run, the next morning, after adding 4 more lrg PVS plugs to the remaining open PVS holes. Hole shot was almost equal to my 24p Fury3 when only running with 2 people. Mid range and handling were great. Didn't have a lot of room to run on this small lake, and had some wind driven small white caps to deal with, but got it to 68.4 @5700 on the run back to the ramp, Still had 25 psi water pressure so there was a some speed left in it. I could have raised the plate and done some more trimming. Probably could have hit 69-69.5 Motor felt strong on the top end with this prop, and the boat was very stable at speed.
I'm happy with these initial results, and am looking forward to running it in a better conditions with only myself and co-angler. I think I can get the hole shot better with some more PVS tuning, and dropping the Atlas down.
Does anyone have any Idea where these Bravo XS's like to run p2p?
