What are you guys using? I know standard 6” pliers work just about every brand for your standard hook removal but I struggle reaching deeper hooks with those especially with smallmouth.

Rapal Mag Spring 8” pliers..... got 2 pair specifically for Erie smallies! I like the longer nose, and the angled handle is a BIG plus!
I like the look of those Rapala Mag Spring pliers and the angled handle.

Also, been using these to lip smallies with trebles in their mouth. Instead of getting a treble imbedded in my hand! So far, I like them.

Not too sure what 6 inch pliers are but I keep two pair needlenose pliers on board. If you can't reach it with needlenose then that fish will probably die anyhow.
Watched a tip by Bill Dance last weekend, go in with 6 needlenose from the gill on the side closest to the hook, once you have the hook rotate your hand opposite of how the hook is, works every time, my partner did it about 6 times Friday, bite was really light and he wasn't feeling it, me on the other hand could with my JB Customs rod

Hemostats, you can see what you are doing. Sometimes pliers can block you view, especially with smaller fish. Also they will never rust. Get a good pair, they are good for life

These from Harbor Freight for $7.
+1 on the Rapala Mag Spring Pliers. I really like the handle offset and the rubber material that they use. I now have 2 pair!

8" Boone Fishing Pliers with pistol style grip.
Long enough to reach in most fish and the angled grip gives more power to clamp down on the hook.
Rapal Mag Spring Pliers also come with a nice holster with clip
I have a pair of 6 1/2" rapala long nose pliers that work fine for me. For smaller fish, like crappie or bluegill hemostats work really well. The rapalas are fairly thin, so can see what I'm doing. Most hardware stores will have something similar, and know in my little town I can find longer pliers in three stores.

Add some 8" pliers with your 6's and this will let you get out those deeper hooksets more easily.
