I keep a link to this video in my Google Keep for reference whenever I need a refresher. Best instructional video out there. Here's another reference:

The quicker we get over the Judeo-Christian notion that we are somehow qualitatively different from the rest of the biome, the quicker we will learn to live healthier lives for ourselves and for the planet.

I don't have my BJM any more ... wish I did! I swear I don't remember there being a detailed explanation of a cleat hitch in the BJM like in the video. Of course the only marlinspike seamanship I ever had exposure to was on the USS Recruit at NTC San Diego. Didn't have any reason to tie knots after that, the guys wearing anchors took care of that. Anyway, I thought the video was great! Thanks for posting!

I have mine, and tell you what..its amazing what I still recall from RTC Great Lakes and the Marlinspike. We set the record for transferring ammunition from the flooded compartment to the dry compartment (I believe it was 30 shells at 60lbs thru a 10"hole)..oh the memories of the RDCs actually giving us a day at Ricky Heaven for that!! (Eating Mcdonalds and playing arcade games/pool for 2 hours!) Was amazing!
