    What would you do

So I’m starting to itch for a new boat. Not much as far as dealers around my area so I was pretty set that my next boat would be a skeeter since that’s the only dealer within 2 hrs and there’s a yami dealer only 45 min away. I don’t need a 20 ft plus boat so I looked into a zx225. Financing went through and was ready to go until I found out the one I chose “sold” overnight and skeeter was behind 6 months and he couldn’t order me a 2018 without charging me another 6500. So how far would you drive for your boat? I’m in no means brand loyal. I’ve had 3 different ones and they all have plus sides and negatives. My only requirement is 4 stroke. Would you give the skeeter guys a chance or drive elsewhere to get the service you should when spending that much on a boat. Other options I’ve looked at are the trx19 with mercury 4 stroke, the Phoenix 919 with new mercury 4 stroke. (All 3 around 50ish) Any others I need to go look over? And can anyone recommend a dealer in the NE region

How far would I drive for my boat.
    Answer:
Here's round trip travel distance of my last 4 boat purchases:
2005 Basscat Puma (used, private owner), 800 miles
2007 Champion 183 used, private owner), 800 miles
2012 Alumacraft Competitor 175 (new off dealer), 900 miles
2017 Polar Kraft 195 (new off dealer), 1700 miles.

I will travel, if price is right!

Sounds like a road trip is in order. My last boat was 6.5 hrs each way and a great experience. I just really wish we had some top notch dealers in my area. My biggest issue is that when I told them I wouldn’t spend 6500 more to order another one the owner told me to just wrap the one he has on the floor in my color of choosing and it would be less than ordering what I want.

You can drive anywhere but the main thing to think about is local support for the motor....

I drove from La to Oklahoma to get my Phoenix.

We have one of the best Skeeter dealers in the country here in Morganton, NC. Foothills Marine and he has a bunch of them in stock, ships all over the country, look them up online.

I worked the night shift. Got off work and drove to C&O Marine. Then drove back to Plant City. I think it was like 750 miles one way.

ND to AL for my Ranger.
I have a Ranger, Skeeter and Nitro dealer within 10-15 miles of me but I don't trust the Ranger and Skeeter dealers and I was coming from a Nitro (that I bought at my local dealer) and I just wanted something different.
If I ever get rid of my Ranger I'll go back to my local Nitro dealer simply because I like them!

I drove from New York to Kentucky to buy my Phoenix at Wieda's Marine. They carry Skeeter as well. Give Sean or Rich a call. Great folks to deal with and made the process smooth from beginning to end. They've been a tremendous help after the sale when needed too.
