    1986 Mercury 175 HP Tilt Tube Question

    1986 Mercury Blackmax
    Serial Number: 0B169682

    I am replacing the old dual cable steering with new hydraulic steering on this outboard. I would like to tighten the nuts on the tilt tube to specs before installing the new steering. What is the proper procedure and torque value for these 2 nuts?

    Thanks, Joe. I want to get my question in the correct forum. However, it is confusing which forum to use since my motor is stock; not high performance.

    Also, I just want to confirm the 45 ft lbs. That high seems like it might bind the motor when using the tilt/trim??? But, I don't know which is why I asked!
