Horrible situation for both parties...may his mind rest and not ponder "what - if" scenarios. Sounds as though he made every effort to save and find his partner. God Speed
Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!

Personally, I think tournament fishermen take it a little to seriously. I see guys chunking and winding with lightning all around! From the description of the weather, discretion should have been the better part of valour.

I certainly direct no blame on the boater at all. However imo attempting to cross that lake with 25 mph winds was a fool’s decision.

I have tournament fished about 20 years and have never understood why in these type of winds on big lakes directors will not allow trailoring your boats to other ramps. If not then they should cancel tournament .Sad situation but we can all get caught up in the competition and not make the best decisions sometimes.

Very sad. Does anyone know if Nik was still wearing a pfd when he was found?

Very sad. But to be honest i think the boater was certainly negligent and will probably get sued

Kisiah must have gone through hours of Hell pretty much giving God the wheel after tying himself to the boat. Very sad.

Very sad, prayers for both families involved.

I dont think the operator of the boat should be sued. It was an accident...

What am I missing? Why was boater negligent? This is first I’ve heard about this, so maybe I’m missing something. It was 180+ boat tournament, are they all negligent?
