    New zx 225

Just got my new zx 225 on Friday. I love it. Well everything except for the crappy cooler lid. It is already broken. Same thing with my previous skeeter. When are they going to change this crappy design?

Get some wide Gorilla Tape and place it along the outside of the lid. Makes a great hinge, been working for me for the last year.

You really shouldn't have to use Gorilla tape of a $50,000+ boat. Skeeter should make the redesign FX cooler lid available for ZX owners.

It helps if you tuck the lanyard into the cooler as you close it. If you let the lanyard hang out, it will cause the lid to close unevenly. That usually makes the hinge pop out and break.

Yes, I have a 2016 ZX225...the wire MUST be in a position Not to prevent closing the lid...that is all...

I use a black cloth sort of bag, put 6 drinks in plus 6 used soft drink bottles of frozen water (I never buy ice)...
then toss in a sealed zipLoc with all snacks...
also have one of those $9 tumblers with frozen ice tea in it...
set that in driver's seat cup holder and sip that the 1st 2-3 hours...

Every guy has his system so thought I might mention mine after all these years...

Not only do you have to make sure the wire doesn't interfere with the lid closing. You also have to watch out for ANYTHING that stops the lid from closing! Like I said before, Skeeter should either offer a redesigned cooler lid for ZX owners or let us get the FX version that actually is a metal hinge that works.

I have a '16 model Zx225 with the original cooler lid. I took the seat cover off first thing as the lid cover gets a lot of foot traffic being it's the only path to/from the rear deck. My lid is still doing fine.

IMO I would rather have the Zx option instead of the LE type. If you mistakenly step on the LE's cup hold section it appears as it too would crack someday. The LE option looks like a plastic hinge also.

To each his own I guess.

I make it a point to mention the cooler lid on my 18 ZX 250 everytime someone gets in the boat with me including my wife. I would much rather mention it and sound like I have an OCD issue than to have someone break it. And yes I agree it's not a great design on a 60,000 boat.

I have a 2016 ZX225 and fish regularly with a 285 lb. partner...he steps on it a lot...as he has to...its the only way to and from the back deck and the cockpit! It creaks and growns but continues to hold his weight...I see it cracking in half some day. Poor design for Skeeter...but all in all, the boat is freakin awesome! All boats have poorly designed elements somewhere. If I can run 70 mph + with no chine walk with a man as big as him next to me (of which I weigh in at only 160 lbs.) with only a 225 hp motor and no trim tabs...I'm sold on the brand!

The tournament partner I had last year is 350lbs. As long as the lanyard is inside the cooler, the lid will be fine.
