Headed up to the mile roads area this weekend and was wondering what I can expect as far as catching a good number of smallmouth... This is my first time fishing there in the spring and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t have a recent fishing update to give you, but from past experience would expect to find a good population of fish in the 10-12 foot range. The biggest population we saw 2 weeks ago was in 8 feet, and it’s been very warm since then. The bad news is that the weekend forecast is a little bumpy. Fairly breezy from the east both Saturday and Sunday. You will be on the west bank, so it’ll be choppy and probably stained. Bring a drift sock. Guys who are local can maybe chime in with plan B advice. Anchor Bay up near Strawberry Island might be a good place to find clearer water, out of the wind.
