Can't see how you can hurt anything. Ran it in mine for 11+ years. No problem oil related.

I use DFI, seveal friends use P Plus without any problems. Use Quickleen . Check with local dealers for a deal on getting from bulk. $30.00 a gal around here.

I use premium plus with quickleen and stabilize added to each tank. My engine is a 2005 225 pro XX with 600+- hrs. No issues so far.

DFI in mine. $27.95 a gallon at my local dealer. I dont see a need to try and save a few bucks as I only go through a few gallons a year.

I got my merc a few months before they started making the push for everyone to run dfi. The dealer filled it with pp when I got it and I had no reason to change. Think I ran right at 12 gallons through it the last year I had it.

I own a 55 gallon drum of dfi. Purchased it for $1200 so a pretty good deal. Same price as gallon jugs of premium at Walmart when you break it down to cost per gallon. I ran 250 hours on premium plus and I have 320 on the dfi oil. Motor runs no different imo.

If you idle a lot like here in Ohio, you should run DFI. On the other hand if you run rivers and big lakes like in the south premium plus is the way to go. This info is from my mechanic.

Where did you purchase the 55 gallon drum at? I have been thinking of doing the same as I seem to go through a gallon every 2 weeks

I purchased it through a buddy that has connections with mercury and mercury dealers. I would ask a dealer about it first. I also heard of a local guy purchasing a pallet of cases from Domo oil I think it’s called. Each case has 5 gallons (2 2.5gallon jugs per case) the pallet had 18 cases so he got 90 gallons of oil and all said and done I think it worked out to about 22 bucks a gallon. But to get that price he had to buy a pallets worth. I believe 3 guys split it so it wasn’t really too bad at all. The drum is awesome as far as never having to worry about oil ever. I’ll probably be ordering another by the end of this season.

All you have to do is ask Rhonda to let you know when she will be ordering the next time.

So I have 6-8 empty dfi gallon containers .. What’s the process to get them filled and delivered? What’s it work out to per gal? Two thieves in this area ask $39 and $49 per gallon..

Filled? Many dealers will fill your jugs out of their 55 gallon barrel at a reduced price. Delivered, not so much. You will probably have to do your own delivering.

Call around to the local Merc dealers and ask. Most around here provide this service.

For you guys that aren’t close to a dealer. Walmart has reduced their prices on most of the 2 stroke oils. PP is around $23 and Synthetic blend which I believe is the same as DFI is $30 per gallon.
