Premium Plus is $22.99 at Academy sports. I ordered 4-5 gallons and got free shipping. It was sitting on the front porch in two days.

That was a good buy, DOMO has it for $1370 plus shipping for a 55 gallon drum.

I stopped using Mercury PP oil several years ago went to Pennzoil PP have about 350hrs with Pennzoil PP on Pro XS 250. Also I don't run any fuel additives (not needed) with the Pennzoil.

Mercury recommends DFI for the Pro XS. Why would you use something other than what the manufacturer recommends?

Maybe a superior oil at a lower price? They recommend their brand oil because it is a profit center. Their main concern is profit. They don't run a charity.

And you know this because someone at Mercury told you this first hand?

Find a dealer that is the dfi in bulk and buy some jigs to fill. You can save a lot of money this way. I believe dfi is better if you do a lot of idleing around.

Told me what?, that they make a profit on their branded oil, or perhaps that they don't run a charity? To answer your question, no.

I used premium plus on my new 2018 pro xs because that's what the dealer put in it. I ran a lot so the prop looked fairly clean. However, after break-in, I started doing more scanning and I noticed the prop was getting black soot built up. My dealer drained the little bit of PP I had in the oil tank and filled it up with DFI. Oddly, he didn't change the oil in the engine tank. He said he didn't need to, but told me to use DFI if I'm going to be idling more often. Since then, I cleaned the prop, use DFI and quickleen, and it no longer has the soot built up on it.

Dfi cause it has additives in it verses PP. Yes it is a bit more expensive but how much is your motor worth. The mercury expert (Don Weed) on the mercury board recommends dfi and good enough for me. The owner’s manual says dfi but you can use PP if dfi is not available. No broader for me
