what is everyone's preferred setup for fishing spybaits? I am struggling to find the right rod and line combo. currently using a 6'10" medium action spinning with 10lb powerpro and a 6' floro leader. I am thinking I have to go longer with a softer midsection?????? my hook set ratio sucks big time
Not doing this to try to kill your thread as I suspect there are some guys around who didn't participate in past threads that can offer some fantastic insights. Plus there's always new information and thoughts even from the same people as time passes - I know I personally find myself changing my views on stuff like this all the time as I progress as an angler, experiment, and probably most of all as I participate on this board.

I use a 7' Medium action hammer casting rod, 6 ratio reel, and 8lb mono/flouro. LOVE this setup.

I use the ALX slot 7 with a Lews reel 8lb flouro works great, has enought tip to launch a lil 80 size bait, enough backbone to slow up a crazy smallmouth.
