    I need some advice ( fixed )

So I had these new lids made and I need to attach the gas struts that hold the doors up. No big deal right ? I got some cutting board from walmart cut it out to fit and attached the to the lids. They were held in place by the door latch and everything seemed good. Until I took them out on the water and I am sure the heat kind of made the poly carbonate a little flimsy and the pressure from the gas strut deformed the poly carbonate. I thought ok I will glue them to the back of the lids. But the glue I used did not hold. As soon as I put them back on the gas struts just pulled the poly away from the aluminum again. It's like the glue will not stick to the poly carbonate. Any thoughts or suggestions on how I can get this to work would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Rob

Maybe the brush on cement might work better. And did you rough up the poly and lid before you glued them?

That HDPE is literally made so that almost nothing will stick to it. Some type of fasteners will probably be required.

I thought that too and yes I did rough it up. It stuck good to the aluminum it just peeled away from the poly carbonate.

    I was afraid of that.
Only way to fasten it would have to pull carpet and fasten it then recarpet.
Any suggestions on another material to use other than the cutting board ?

3m vhb tape. I've yet to find anything it won't stick to. I seen it almost destroy a piece of wood.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. I went with a piece of 1 1/4 aluminum angle and just rivoted it to the cross piece. It seems to hold real well.
    Thanks Rob

get a shorter shock and rivet it to the piece they welded in for support.
