electrical???......some wisdom from smart people PLEASE.

1999 DF70....its been running great up to yesterday morning. dropped her in water started her up and let her warm up. took off got on plane and went to adjust the trim...... and the motor kinda jumped and shut down. ok. shut her down completely and went through the start up process again. restarted and hit the trim at idle....jumped a little and shut down. lights came up "HOT/Check engine". its spitting water. went back checked the connectors on battery all tight. ended up doing this only a couple times but she didnt want to start as in turned the key but no starter engaged a couple of times. the HOT/CHECK ENGINE only came on ONCE. any wisdom would be appreciated.

Even though it's spitting water, have you located the thermostat and checked it to make sure it's not possibly clogged or something is wrong with your engine temp sensor?

Your battery is weak or the trim motor has a short. It could also be a poor wire connection.
