I think anything higher than 3in below the pad can cause extra stess on props... I run 1in below but have not thrown or cracked a blade on this boat/motor in 15 years... I feel lucky.

There is no rule of … Since diameter plays a big factor.

You can run a fury 4 high. No blowout whatsoever and stays hooked up well. No thrown blade so far. I have to think rpms play atleast some factor. Surely a 1:86 gear case at 5600 doesn’t put as much stress on one as a 1.75 or 1.62 at 6200.
Nock on wood I have never lost a blade on any props I have owned in 34 years . The tempest is very hard to beat once it has been balanced and Taylor built to your rig . All props after awhile get out of balance nicked up and dull over time some are out of balance from the get go . I'm firm believer in keeping props sharp and balanced.
Trophy are bad for throwing blades, ive thrown 3 in 10 years but i have thrown a old school tempest too, 4 blades may throw more but imho, goes with what runs best and let it be, regardless of what you get, as the old saying goes sh#% happens
I have a 27 trophy right now that has over 500 hrs of run time on it in 10 years . It would push my 2008 cougar over 80 all day long . I still run it in cooler weather now on my puma . It’s been a fantastic prop .
Run mine at 3/4in below the pad and have cracked a bravo, but run a promax with on problems. They are a stout prop
