    Throw a blade??

What Mercury props do you guys find are least likely to throw a blade with out hitting any obstructions?? I do plan to run either a Fury, Tempest or a BRAVO xs.

In the past on Pro XS outboards I ran Tempest props with no Issues, however I went 2 for 2 throwing blades on non Mercury props so I no longer run them.

When I ran a Yamaha I used Turbo FXP props and T1's both never slung a blade, they both ran great.

Thought I saw more about that with Bravo but I never owned one, do they run thinner blades on a Bravo?

Fury 4 blade 24p has been know to toss a blade. 25p on up are a bit stronger. Regardless, these props need be low in the water. Rooster tail should be no higher than the motor.

Only blade I've ever thrown was on a Trophy Plus. Tempest have stout blades. Fury are newer, stronger alloy and need to run low otherwise you will have a lot of slip. So out of three, Bravo would be more likely because it is such a good prop at higher settings, you're tempted to push envelope and keep raising jackplate

So you guys would say the Tempest is least likely to throw a blade?? If I run the prop low I'm also less likely to throw a blade on any prop right??

Do you think this is true of 4 blades in general, that they throw more blades then there 3 blade in same series??? For example I don't here of guy's throwing Tempest blades but I do read about guy's throwing Trophy blades and Bravo blades.

That's because generally speaking you can run 4 blades higher (except Fury4).

I've always read and personally experienced that the majority of 4 blades (and majority of applications, not go fast applications) run lower than 3 blades?

Just wondering.... have any of you guys ever heard of a prop blade being thrown and it hitting something out and away from the boat? Like hitting another person or watercraft?

I have seen pictures of a person injured by a thrown prop ear.

Wow... I wonder how far away they were from the boat that threw the ear off the prop.

Dont buy a fury. It will definitely throw a blade and take part of the tube with it. The bravo will throw a blade but the majority of people that run them surface them, this is hard on a prop and any will throw one in these conditions.
The tempest should be safe enough.
If yoy are running under 80 the bravo will work best. If you are running under 70 you should have no issues throwing a blade at all unless you have it worked for speed.
