    Any idea what this is?

    Just noticed this dangling inside the jackplate (see pics below). Haven't had time to trace it back and troubleshoot yet -- figured I'd cheat by dropping the question w/ pics here first.

    Boat is a 2014 Ranger Z520c w/ merc 250 pro xs. Thanks!

    Digital (smartcraft) trim sender

    Close. It is the analog trim sender. The one ear is broken off. Yhey are cheap and easy to replace. Calibrating one is a serious PITA.

    Tilt the motor up and look on the left (port) side where the engine actually pivots up/down. You will see where it fits in.
