St. Clair Report
We had a blast! We caught hundreds of fish in the 2.5 days we were there. We never ran into great numbers of smallmouth, but between the 2 boats probably caught 45-50. They were mostly really solid fish. Had 10 over 4lbs and the biggest of the trip was a 5.12lb. We caught a ridiculous amount of largemouth both in canals and weed beds that smallmouth were mixed in also. Nothing over 4lbs, but plenty 2.5-3lbs. And I'm scared to even think about the amount of rockbass we boated.
We caught most of these near the Selfridge area. We launched out of 9 mile one morning and caught 12 smallmouth, but the average size wasn't what we were catching up north, nor were the numbers of other fish there, so we headed back up there around 11am Sunday.
Most on a tube, some on a dropshot, jerkbait, fluke, and Spook jr.
What an incredible lake.
We headed up the north Channel to Algonac mainly just to sight see. Pretty cool stuff and a different weather and water climate(water temp was 52). Also ventured to the Metropark and that place was packed on a beautiful Memorial day to be outside. Some scenery as well.
Boat traffic was insane as expected and the lake was like a washing machine, but it was manageable if not ideal.
Our species list: Bluegill, Yellow Perch, Largemouth, Smallmouth, Rockbass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Musky, Burbot
Thanks to everyone for the tips and info.5.12.jpgChris.jpgClayton.jpgClayton1.jpgClayton2.jpgJon.jpg

I am the rock bass master, especially on St. Clair. Anybody need any tips on catching them, I can help.

LOL about the rock bass...
Looks like a really fun outing. That lake is something special. As you experienced, the largemouth fishing is good to great. It's probably the most underrated largemouth fishing in the state.
