    transducer mounting

221 champ. Tried doing a search, had not luck. Upgrading to a unit at the console with side scan, I am assuming I need to locate on the back of the transom and not through, correct? Where and how to mount? Also assuming I need to drill through the transom? Seams like it would be a straight forward question on line, lots of mixed results. Help/photos appreciated.

If you have a jackplate that would be the best spot

    Thanks for the advice.
Who sells jackplate brackets? Will it position the unit to operate under power?

Transducer shield and saver makes a bracket. No you will not have on pad reading you should have a shoot thru transducer for that

Transducer Shield and Saver! Mount to jack plate. Side image only works good from 2-6 mph,or in that area. This mounting system protects it as good as possible. Mount a 2D transducer in bilge area. Test that area before permanent mounting with epoxy. Mount is not really cheap but neither is a side image trans.

This also works without drilling holes in transom. You can redrill into it to adjust if needed without any worries.
