With a sportmaster lower, at proper height, appropriate prop, I think you should be able to get high 70's perhaps 80 depending on load and driving skills.

driving skills are not there yet.i had a 19 foot bullet before i got my 295 pro stratos.it had a modded 200 mercury on it and i couldn't handle it.but time will tell on this one.i am looking for a 12 inch JP to put on it.it has a 6 inch on it now.he has a lower with a low water pick-up on it that i am going to try and get for it.

Marty92xrd on here had one of those era light boats and he could run 82 with an xri200 and a regular lower unit with some intakes plugged. He ran a bone stock chopper possibly sans line cutters. Call him at rothwell marine and see what he can do to set you up

I had a 94 200 xri. Pretty stout motors. I would think you could hit 80 and with work a few more.

The trick is that 94 model boat. Lighter than the newer ones so itll run fine with that motor on there.

That XRI is a beast. Before I went Bullet for life I had a 20’ SX Skeeter with an xri on it that would roll 71-72 loaded, and 74-75 solo. It was a “Sleeper” for sure. That rig will run upper 70s for sure, likely low 80s solo. No need for a Sporty, but your gonna want some bow lift with that combo

I hope Paul will comment. I respectfully disagree on the lower unit. On that light of a boat, if you don't get the prop close to the surface it is not going to handle well. Also getting the lower to run shallower will greatly decrease drag. A coned lower is better than nothing. JMO.

The best I ran mine was 83 with a 28 Bullet Cut. 92XRD with a stock 92 200XRi. 1.75 below the pad with a 10" Rapid Jack, top 3 holes plugged on lower unit. It would fish at 80 all day with a stock 26 Chopper turning 62-6300. Another guy had a 20DC with a 200 Pro Max with a Sportmaster and he could not touch me. He was a good 3-5mph slower. A STOCK 200 doesnt need a Sporty. My old boat now has a 200 Pro Max on it and it will not run like it did with that XRi.

well guys motor is swapped over, now the fun begins.put the 25 tempest + on for the first time out.71 at 5400 rpms is all i could do.granted i am not a performance boat driver at all.i will get better with more seat time.(i hope)it has 11 inch man. JP and it is all the way down.i tried a 26 chopper and it was worst.65 is all i could get out of it.with the tempest i had 15 pounds of water pressure.

loaded to fish in a 20xdc, with a 200 promax with raised limiter with the woman in the boat and a limit of white bass in the livewell for supper , sport master lower unit 12” back, with a power pole I ran 84.

    1.5” above pad.

The 200 promax power head wasn’t on there long before I put the 225 back on the mid.

    It had more in it.

There is very little difference between an xri and a promax 200, Like ecu solid mounts , divider plate and cowl.

I would expect a well set up could do the same.
