Correct prop for 150 Vmax help

Purchased a 2010 H18 with a 150 Vmax running a 23 pitch PT. That seems a little much in my mind. What are your thoughts? Any help appreciated.

What are your RPMs at wide open throttle and max trim ?

Why does it seem too much? When my x-19 had a 150 vmax a 23 trophy was just right. I would say the power tech is more of a issue. Cj

Got to bring it out today and open it up. 60mph at 5500rpm.guess it's about right.

My X19 with the Yamaha F150 23 pitch pt gets 62 mph solo with a light load. For comparison seems about right for that setup

Thanks for the input fellas. Yes my boat was loaded today. 2 adults, 30 gal fuel, roughly 220# worth of batteries and tackle and ice. Can't ask for any more.

One last question. As it is now, I have a 30 gallon fuel tank, 3 batteries (about 230#) and this 150 on a 10" jack plate. When taking off, the bow lifts a lot. Could I move my two group 31agm's (about 160#) under front deck and help this? Just seems like too much weight on the stern.

That is what you don't want to do, if you are running 60mph loaded you are doing great. Are you tucking the engine all the way down to take off? That is what pushes the bow down on take off, then you want as much weight to the back for bow lift and so the pad and prop can carry the weight. Cj

I may be wrong here, but does a 10" jack plate seem a little too much for 18' ?

Motor trimmed all the way in at takeoff. The boat came with 10" plate also.

Be sure there is nothing stopping it from negative trim, it should "tuck under" quite a bit. If it is a fin will do wonders. I would not change out that 10" plate. Cj
