Cool US2 with a chirp and non chirp unit

If I am chirping the US2 can a non chirp unit also use the US2 for sonar?

You are talking a different unit hooked directly to the US2? And not over the network. Correct?

Then it is a no. Older units without chirp can't use the chirp sonar from a chirp unit. There may be a special circumstance I am not aware of. If you use the entire model # for both units someone will be able to tell you on your specific units. Bob

Thank you very much Bob. I'm having to rethink my set up so I can utilize my old 998c for a while before buying another Helix.

Thank you Wayne. I believe this explains why the US2 shows up as unknown type on the 998.
