    2007 175hp Evinrude E-Tec

Considering a boat with 2007 175hp Evinrude E-Tec with 150 hrs. Any known issues or problems with this model that would be concerning enough to stay away from.

Are the controlling boards/EMM type boards more reliable on this model E-tec than the Fichts?

    Thanks

i have what is technically by the serial number a 2007 E-TEC however during warranty BRP replaced both the lower unit and the head becoming mostly a 2009.

Several significant redesign fixes or product improvements (depending on one's view) were made by BRP just after that era with the E-TECs oil delivery, uel injectors and included BRP's scrapping their early model lower unit's further manufacture re-engineering what has proved a much different and more robust lower unit design.

The later introduction of knock sensors into the E-TEC surely plays a role in helping later model owners avoid misfires and experiencing some of the blown cylinders previously occuring.

The E-TEC's expensive EMMs as they always have include the vulnerability of depending on successful circulation of cooling by lake/ocean waters. EMMs have high output charging voltage regulators that upon their failure are not service-able other than by dealer replacement of the full EMM.
