    Rev spike on start up

    Hi all,

I recently had to adjust my timing because the previous owner messed around and got it out of spec.

When I turn the key to start the motor, there's a quick rev spike before rapidly coming down to idle spec. This is normal right? I'm assuming maybe there's leftover fuel in the carb or something.

What kind of spike are you talking about?

    How high of a spike?
    Exceed 1000rpm?
How long before the high idle drops?

Does it sound different than a typical "turn over, turn over, vroom, idle" at start up?

Cold start should fire then hold at 900ish for about 30 seconds then drop to 700.

I took a video. Here it is. It's on muffs though, I need to adjust the idle on the water. However, it does show the spike.
