i replaced my cranking battery (7 years old ! ) took boat out and now my tach running about 3--4 hundred more rpms at wot. what the heck ? always runs between 5600 and 5800 was up to 6100 and i let off . any ideas ?

There are some setting switches on the back that can get corroded. Turn them back and forth and make sure they are on the right setting. Forgive me, I am not sure which one it should be but you can google it. I would give that a try. Happened to em a couple years ago.
ok will try that ---the tach always worked fine , until 1st trip out after changing the crankin battery ---weird
