    21xdc setup help

I need some advice on setting up my 02 21xdc with 08 250xs that I bought a month ago, it has stock lower unit with a 26P Turbo TXP prop and 14" rapid jack plate.
The prop shaft is 2 1/4" below the pad, with full tank of fuel and a passenger and full fishing gear, you can ease it up to about 69 mph and it starts to walk bad even below neutral trim and will get worse if you trim higher. Hopefully some of you may have a similar setup, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this your first bullet? I have a 95 21xdc with a 2008 pro xs 250. MY boat did the same thing... I’m 3/4 below pad and after hours of seat time I can run 80 straight as a string.

I’m running a 28 bravo 1. Your prop seems way under pitched to me...

TXP is stiff. I'm running a 26 also.

What kind of rpms do you turn with that? Sorry I was just taking a guess on the prop.

Loaded heavy something like 5650-5700 @ 79 mph. I have yet to run it without all my crap in the boat and I have a bunch of crap.

I might need to raise my engine a bit.

Raise the motor up to 1.5 in below and maybe find a diffrent prop to try, like a promax or bravo.
Then stay out off the trim. Just bump it a little at a time. The speed will come, but you have to learn to drive it. Put the rods away and drive the boat around. You will see the speed coming. Give it a gew tanks of gas, next thing you know-Boom 80+

When I bought my first Bullet 21XD I took it to the lake the first few times and I thought I had got a factory defect boat. HA HA within a few more trips and learning how to drive a real boat, well the rest is history. I am on my 3rd Bullet in 25 years. Would not own anything else. Good luck. Take your time,. BE SAFE!! ENJOY!

My 2004 21XDC had a 250XS with a sporty on it, different lower, but I ran a 26 Signature Eagle 4 most of the time, 1:62 gears

Yes, this is my first bullet. I have had a few boats with 200's on them (Stratos, Dawson, Shadow, GlassStream) but they seemed a little easier to drive at 70 mph and I had to trim them high to make them run, I'll try to raise the motor 1 to 1 1/2 below pad and give it a try, this 250xs has the stock lower unit with the 8 water pickup holes on the sides as well as the 4 in the nose, I was worried about raising it up to high and loosing water psi, I didn't wont to block off any holes if I didn't have too, right now I have around 15-18 psi running, are any of you running a stock lower unit with all the side water picks open, If so what is the minimum water psi I need to run on this engine?

1.5 below is still too low. It won’t drive as easy as it will at 3/4 to 1/2 below....

    OK,
I am going to raise it to 3/4" below pad and try to get it in the water tomorrow and see how it does, and keep an eye on the water psi.

Do u know what gear you got? I am wondering if it’s way under do to 1:75 gear can’t move it up do to hitting the rev limit? If u do hit rev limit at 3/4 under possibly u might have wrong prop. But if u can get 5800rpm @3/4 and upper 70’s mph then u will have a 1:62 gear and will be close. I really like a bravo on a 21x with a 250.

One thing that helped me is getting the boat balanced. Put a level across the front deck seat down and move crap around until you get it level.

This x2...21 XDC, 3/4 below,14 inch set back, TM 1.62, 28 bravo. Taken me 6 months but can easily drive to 75 and have seen 77. Still learning. But found that balancing the boat helps alot. Have it set up to balance well with just me in it. With a passenger I move my tackle around and it helps but still heavy to the port side and I can tell when I trim it out. I put a level eye on the center storage lid.

Mercury Pro Max prop is the easiest to drive I've found on My 21XDC
