It goes on the spliced battery charger lead to the electronics battery of a multi-bank charger

No, It is for the MEGA frequency transducer on a trolling motor.

What exactly does this thing do putting it on the onboard charger lead? I mean I could see putting it on your main power wire going to that locator but why on the charger lead when its not plugged in when you are on the lake? Seems like i'm missing something here

It is for the potential noise induced from the TM batteries to the battery with the electronics hooked to it through the onboard charger.

The trolling motor power wires are an "antenna" for RFI that the trolling motor produces. The choke cable filters the RFI from getting to the starting battery connection that is passed through the charger. The charger being plugged in to a 110 V power source has nothing to do with it. All the battery connections are connected to the charger--that is the path for RFI.

    Thank you.
I just installed my 2 12" Solix's and have zero interference, ran 2 sets of 10Ga wires one to the front and one to the helm with a fuse at the battery. I am very pleased so far with the lack of interference, only time i get it is on sidescan from the prop wash of the trolling motor and its not even that bad at all.

If your electronics are connected to the cranking battery, yes.

So if electronics are connected to the fuse block at the bow (that is NOT directly to the battery), is this choke cable install between the starter battery and charger helpful?

You might want to wait and see if you have interference before cutting your charger cable to your cranking battery. Dual Pro Delta Volt chargers have temperature sensors in the cabling. I believe I read Dual Pro does not recommend cutting the cable. I was going to bolt the filter to the end of the Dual Pro cable, but I just disconnected the charger from the cranking battery and use a dedicated AGM charger for my $400 Odyssey 2150. So far so good on the interference.

You only cut off the ring terminals and butt slice the choke wires. You don't cut off anything else. Bob

Xtm 14 HW MSI T just installed and no cross talk or interference. I didn't install choke yet but planned on it.
The reception of RFI is easily produced in a closed system environment.

jinxed myself. One of the terminal leads was too small to fit on my AGM starter battery. Not a difficult fix but a time consuming pain in the rear as it required a trip to the auto parts store.

If you are installing this be aware of this potential issue. Ready for this ice to melt to give this new Helix a try. Very interested to see how much I will like the side imaging from the trolling motor.

Boiler, What size terminal was on your battery. I can't find the size ring terminals in any HB documents, but my recollection was a 5/16 on the negative and a 3/8 on the positive. Bob
