    250SS on a 2007 nitro 929

Just got my 250SS on my 2007 Nitro 929. Currently has a 14.5 25P 3 blade Suzuki prop. Only could get to about 62.5 GPS. I was able to get on pad really good, but would lose bite a little bit if my jack plate was up just a little bit. Not sure on prop to PE numbers, but it was only jacked up 2” from the lowest position at most. Any suggestions on what prop to look at next? Other than that, loved the motor.

I have asked about props alot... I do know that these engines are 2.08:1 gear ratio. That makes it where you need a higher pitch prop. I ended up going with a Mark Croxton Razor 4 blade, 26 pitch. He told me his Razor 4 26 pitch runs higher than other 26 pitch props. I haven't gotten to try it out yet. I will say that most of the other suggestions were: 4 blade Suzuki 28 pitch, Bravo 1 28 Pitch. Hope this helps. Is this a new 250SS? What are your RPMs at WOT?

It’s brand new. Got 6 hours on it. I get 6100 rpm pretty easy. What kind of performance were you seeing

I haven't got to run it yet. I am still waiting on the repower to be completed and the prop to come in. I will definitely be posting results as I run it.

The fact that you get to 6100 RPMs easily and are at a slow top end speed tells me that you need more pitch.

I am at 5700 @68 miles an hour with a 4 blade 30P suzuki prop. Thinking about getting a 4 blade 28P to pick up more RPM’s. Would lie to see it up around 6200 RPM’s.

4 blade 14.5 Suzy prop. Turning 6200 at 72 to 73 just me, but she chimes some. 2000 procraft 210 super pro. I could go to a 29 in the cool part of the year and gain some.

I got the 4 blade 27 pitch Suzuki prop. I just wanted to try something a little different than the 28, plus my nitro is a little on the heavy side and I run rough water a lot. I’ll run it this weekend and report back.

Just wanted to give everyone a report. Switched to the 4 blade 27 pitch and it’s like a new motor. Never was able to really open it up today due to crazy boat traffic on Lanier, but the boat did so good in the rough water and just overall riding better. Prop had lots of bite in the chop. Got on pad almost instantly. I was able to cruise at 45-50 right at 4000 RPM’s. I’ll be back out in the morning and I’ll probably miss a lot of the boat traffic and will get to see what it will really do. No doubt it could spin at least a 28 pitch 4 blade, but the acceleration and handling of the 27 was very very nice

Mine probably would be faster with a 29, but I would lose some holeshot.

Sounds like you're in the ball park on pitch and number of blades. You have picked one that lets you cruise at what in my opinion are good RPM's. If you get a decent hole shot with full live wells, you're there.

Did you ever get out there and run some more numbers?

    I did. I can’t get past 5500 RPM’s and 62 MPH. The nitro is a heavy boat.

Something seems very wrong. You should do way better than that RPM and Speed.
