    02 225HO FICHT Ram help

    Model #E225FHLSN. This motor has 700+ hrs on it. Took it on the lake Thursday and it started off ok. Little sluggish idling. Took off and was slow getting on plane. Once on place ran fine. Stopped and headed off in another direction and check engine light came on and would not get over 1krpm, guessing safe mode? I was able get it running again on muffs but it overheated after about 30 minutes. I'm wondering if the oil pump is not primed? And how do I go about checking and getting it primed? I do have the EVdiags. I am going to go ahead and replace the water pump and thermostats anyways.

    You will have to prime the oil pump/oil lines prior to starting. You'll need to pinch off the return oil line to the tank and pump the hell out of the oil bulb. Follow the process in the manual for priming the system after oil pump replacement. I would also set the motor to breakin mode using the diags.

    Ok thanks. Some reason the diags will not read the EMM unless the motor is running. Am I missing something?

    So I got it reading the EMM but getting this error message trying to correct coeff for injectors. The serial number is correct except for the 0 at the end. Coeff are correct but injector type is wrong. Is this ok as long as the coeff are correct?

    Never saw a FICHT engine diagnostic show an E-TEC injector model. You may have a piece of corrupted software. Where did you buy it?

    The Check Engine light coming on would store a service code to tell you what was wrong.

    off eBay but it's just that one injector. All the others are fine. The codes were 25 EMM temp above range and 43 Engine temp above range. I'm replacing the water pump for sure. The stream didn't seem as good as it should.

    Better clean out the fittings, hoses, EMM tube, and VST water passage, too. Inspect the blow off valve on the top aft of the engine block.

    Thanks. Since the coeff for that injector are correct it should be ok?

    The disc like thing before the EMM what is it called? How free should the water flow through it?

    I can only imagine you mean the exhaust back pressure diaphragm is the "disc like thing" No water wants to be running thru that. The water cooling hoses are on the top and bottom of the EMM.

    Evinrude dealer, buy genuine-aftermarket ones will get you in more trouble than they are worth.
