    250 PRO XS temp

    2013 250 Pro XS: SN:1B974356

Finally got the boat out of storage and took it for run today. Air temp around 60, water temp upper 40’s.

Engine warmed up to 135 at idle, let the stats cycle twice, all good.

Eased into the throttle, cruised around 4000 rpm, temp stabilized at 120. Slowly increased to 4500, temp dropped slightly to 118. When I increased the throttle, the temp dropped to 113 so I backed off the gas and it rose back up I only got to maybe 4900 rpm. Every time I gave more gas, the temp would drop but I never let it drop below 113.

I know it’s cold, but what can I expect to see at WOT under these conditions? Summer it stabilizes at 120.

Just dont wanna risk a cold seize.

    Thansk in advance.

Your temps are fine, and there is no specific temperature for WOT. Let the motor come up to temperature and make sure the thermostats cycle before going on plane, and you'll be good.

You let it warm up properly so you are fine. In winter fishing in GA, I have seen temps in mid 80s cruising.

You should my temps when cruising mid-winter with surface temps in the upper 30s and low 40s!

This is all very good to know. I went out again yesterday in very different conditions. Air temp in the upper 80's and water temp in the mid to upper 60's. I always let the motor warm up and cycle twice on initial start-up. Yesterday the temp stabilized at 120-122 regardless of speed which was more what I'm used to. It makes sense that the more cold water pumping thru at higher speeds that the temp will dip. Thanks again guys...

Ok sorry for my ignorance, how do you know when the temps cycle twice?? I just look at the temp... and never did much but since i had to get a new block, I have been learning....and I don't really know what to do other than let warm up to 120 before wot.

At idle when the temps come up to the thermostat temperature, around 120*-130*, and back down two times, that is "cycling twice".

Smartcraft display of some sort. I would never own one of these without one.

I have one, I just never paid much attention to it except for rpm, gas used, and water pressure. Really didn't know what pressure was good or bad and what was adequate. same for temp..

I always do two thermostat cycles in cold water, ease into throttle after temp starts to rise following second cycle. Repeat process for next start if engine cools down.
