    Steering problem

Seem to have a steering issue with my sea star steering. When I want to turn my boat I turn the wheel and the boat don't respond much so I turn some more and the boat turns too much. Also when I give full throttle to get on plane the boat veers sharply to the right. Any ideas?

Have you tried to bleed it yet, possible air in the system?

You probably let the fluid get too low in the helm reservoir, introducing air into the hydraulic lines. Good idea to check the fluid level on occasion to avoid this.

Goes without saying, but fill the helm first. Sounds like you will be doing a lot of bleeding unless your motor unit got loose.

NPT fitting screwed into the fill port with some clear tubing running up to a funnel makes it easy to keep it full while bleeding or flushing

Make sure when you bleed the system that you have plastic or card board under the console for over spill. The fluid will destroy the carpet.

Update, Took my boat to shop and they said I had air in hydraulic lines so they bled them out. Also said my motor bushings were bad. Asked for price on bushings they said they'll call me next day. When they called back they said I need to replace hydraulic steering cylinder. I asked "can't you rebuilt it". They replied "no". I went and picked up boat and purchased a rebuild kit from Sea star on Amazon. Going to rebuilt it myself!

There are dozens of postings here that describe the different processes used in bleeding a hydraulic steering system. There are also many posts from members that have successfully installed new seals in their own actuators.
Unless you have no mechanical skills at all, you should be able to bleed your own system first, before you get into repairing it. You'll need to know where the leak is and you have several places it could occur, so guessing is a bad option. It could be as simple as a loose hose fitting so you need to fill and bleed it.
