    Purchasing from boards on BBC

I wanted to get yalls opinion. I made a deal to purchase an electronic device from someone that had it posted here. This was Wednesday the 16th. I of course negotiated the price down and he agreed to that price if I would send the funds through PayPal as a friend and he would ship on Friday the 18th. I’m new to all of this so I agreed. I sent the money on Thursday morning the 17th and he then said he received the funds and would ship when he got home on Saturday. I should have cancelled the transaction at that point but I didn’t. So Saturday has rolled around now and no shipped notification no reply to emails and no reply on the sales board. What now?

I would give him until Monday to respond or ship. People often request paypal from a friend to avoid the fee. Hopefully this is legit. If not contact Al. He fixes everything that is wrong!

You shouldn't have sent the money that way.
    Give it some time.

#1 mistake was using the "pay friend or relative" to avoid fees to "him!" (I've done that before, but only to people ai have delt with)
I'd wait a couple more days, and if no reply, I'd then post his name and what happened on the swap/sell forums.

PayPal will not get involved if you've sent funds as a "Gift" to a friend.

Chuckwilson, send me a PM and let me know the details of this and who the seller is.

Sounds like you may get your purchase. In the future paying as a gift will result in no assistance from Pay Pal if the deal goes south. Don't pay as a gift.

I as a seller prefer that the pay pal not be sent as a friend. That way it's easier to print a label and get a shipping discount.

Don’t ever send as friends and family, you gave him a gift and have very little recourse.

I agree and sellers should just charge the price they want and include the fees in the price. Then there are no issues. We also get to pay the service that is doing the money transfer. It’s interesting that people complain about all kinds of “dishonest” transactions while cheating PayPal out of their fees.
