Why doesn't Canada have the number of School shootings as the US....?? Are they that much better of parents???...Is there any other country in the world that averages a school shooting every few months??
What is the difference ...?? I have a hard time accepting that the parenting skills or exposure to "The digital world" is that different..
It's like Deja Vu...It seems like we have been down this discussion road way too many times..

Stop waiting for the school and gov to take action. If your at the end of your rope on this topic then step up and take control of your household...

To be honest, i think stubborn, single minded people are the problem. Just look at the answers on this forum. Everybody b**** about those politicians but the conversation here could be straight from the hill "i don't have the answer but gun control isn't it" - wtf. There is no easy, we do one thing answer but you have to be open to change and right now everybody only wants to change things as long as they don't have to change and in the meantime our kids get killed in their classrooms.
No idea of what values you have if you aren't willing to try everything to save the life of our kids.

Are u serious - so what you are saying is never try anything that you are not 100% sure it works because otherwise it doesn't make sense.
Let me ask you this: how do you figure out what the bass are biting because you for sure can't go out on the lake and see what works - you already have the answer.
So just give me the answer what exactly is the problem with school shootings and what is the only solution that will stop them.

Also, if you really think "they can take all your guns away" than lets go for it because that would literally be the only single option to prevent school shootings and i would be ok with that - unfortunately it's also unrealistic so you can stop worrying about it

The metal detectors wouldn't have stopped them. But, the armed security personnel who would man them would have stopped those when they inspected the bag they were carried in.

I am not for gun control. I'm pretty sure most could do much more damage deathwise with a gun in a school full of children than they could with the MC.

    Bravo, bravo!

My only addition would be to keep people from having children.

Yes I am deadly serious. You just don't like what I am saying.

I never said don't try new things, but once the guns are gone, they ain't coming back, and we will still have the same problem.

Plain and simple....the problem is no more the guns killing our people/kids than it is the ford truck being driven by the local drunk person killing our people/kids.

So if we ban guns, are we also gonna ban ford trucks ? Sounds stupid right ?? But it uses the same flawed logic.

Like it or not, these things are just tools...it is the human being using the tool in an inappropriate or illegal manner that is doing the killing/harm. THAT is the real problem.

Criminals can't legally buy guns or even possess them....but yet they still manage to do so. Do you seriously think taking away guns from law abiding citizens will stop this ?

What about the lady cop in Brazil or where ever it was the other day who shot & killed someone who was attacking people with a gun. If law abiding people have their guns taken way, how can someone defend themselves like that ? with a purse ?? or a stick of gum ??

Or drugs.....they are illegal, but people can still easily get them, and they are still dying from taking them. In fact it is so bad, the surgeon general has recommended everyone carry the heroin antidote with them to save the life of someone who OD'd. So now I am supposed to be the responsible one to save the irresponsible drug addicts life after they OD, but yet I can't have my gun anymore to use to try and stop someone from committing such a heinous crime as a public shooting ??

Potential issues not helping with this:

Participation trophies...kids these days are always getting rewarded no matter what they do......then when life gets real and they get shut down instead of rewarded, they lose it cuz they never learned or were taught how to deal with rejection in life.

Kids never being disciplined and being use to getting their way all the time so they in turn have no respect for life or authority.

Morals, respect for others, decent parenting, religion of almost any kind.....just to name a few....but no one wants to hear this cuz it hits too close to home.

How does a bully learn to bully ?? 99 out of 100 times it is from his overbearing parent(s) who would rather yell at him/her and push them around than show love and kindness cuz they are lazy and selfish themelves. The kid learns all too well, then treats others who won't stand up for themselves the same way.

Government agencies who are warned, but take no action......for fear of stepping on someones rights. Is it better to step on their rights now and be wrong, or their grave and possibly others as well later ?

I have not kept a running track record, but it seems one common theme is these are large schools. It would be interesting to know how much security if any is used at the schools where the children are from parents on Capitol Hill and the size of those schools. Maybe take a look at how Private schools are not being targeted. There is a solution somewhere we just need to dig deep and figure it out. Gun laws are a non starter.

Blame most parents, it's not the kids fault they are what they are. In general parents don't give 2 shuts about their kids except maybe grades and sports. How many parents never hold their kid accountable for anything, it's always someone else's fault.

Most of what I see here (don't beat me up, hear me out) is about spending money on something. Yes Im for everything that might stop the problems in the schools. But until they address mental illness nothing will change. A trench coat in 90 degree heat should have been a heads up along time ago. They said he always wore it. That should have been something is wrong with this kid. Cant profile anymore needs thrown out the window. The US has a mental illness problem.

And a fear of stepping on 1 persons toes for the sake of the 1000 others in the community.

Political correctness will kill this country for good soon.

I agree, it's unrealistic, but it's also what it seems everyone who refuses to admit it is the human being that is responsible wants....and frankly, I get tired of hearing it.

Blame it on someone or something else, not the real culprit. Refuse to admit we have a mental health problem in this country, bury your head in the sand....no one will bother you then.

A wall around the entire school property might solve the limited entrance to the building issue.

Damn right i dont like what you are saying because i think you are part of the problem. You dont like that i said it would be actually the only solution to take everybody's guns away to solve school shooting and you are too afraid of that possibility (although it's not really a possibility since it will never happen) to be open to any kind of gun control.
And to your point about trucks: it the might surprise you but if kids would start crashing trucks into school children i wouldn't have a problem to look into solutions like automatic breaking features and whatever.
So again, stop being afraid of loosing your guns and start working on a solution how we can keep them out of the hands of the bad guys.
