Where do you live, teen texting dangers are well covered here! The facts are he used a shot gun and a handgun not a iPhone X. Keep the damn things locked up. Limited access points is a decent start.

Exactly. Remove the gun from the equation and then something else will fill the void and be just as bad, if not worse.

    Right on the money....

I got cussed out by two juvenile females last week. They were shoplifting at Walmart. Beyond disrespectful. It starts out at home... Our juvenile jail won't even take juveniles anymore unless they commit a "violent felony". So everything else is a "slap on the wrist".

9.5 years left until I can retire, can't wait...

Maybe we should confiscate all hands. Then nobody can use a gun or knife or text while driving. the only way is to change the culture and everyones attitude toward others. People will stop killing when people stop wanting to kill. How do we change attitudes of people and the culture? I don't know. I'll just go fishing and hope for the best.

Honestly, probably never. When over 20 first graders were killed in Sandy Hook and everyone grieved for a short time and then conciously chose to look the other way, that ship sadly sailed.....

It's the "bigger picture" in my opinion... The family structure in our country is crumbling day after day. Without a caring and loving mother and father present, the streets and the culture raise these kids.

The book of Revelation is coming to life before our eyes...

Although I can't pinpoint an exact answer to the problem, I do know that gun control is not the answer.

    Disappointment, failure, loss, rejection...

It's taken our "Great" society only a few short decades to reach the point where far too many of our kids are no longer in any way equipped to deal with these facts of life.

Bombs and explosives were also used/present, but all anyone is talking about is guns.

It doesn't matter...........you will never stop someone bent on hurting another........just like a lock only keeps an honest man honest.

No one seems to have any respect for others or life in general.

!00 per cent agree with the gun control part. As to the other, i could take you to local churches here that are filled with single parents and children of those parents. It is not only the single parents whose children are being raised in the streets it is successful married people who are busy making a life for themselves and their children. The poor do not have a lock on out of control children there are many raised by working class and wealthy people who are either thugs or borderline thugs, it just takes longer for those with dollars to show up in jails and prisons. I know a lot of people who were raised by a single parent and a few who were raised by parents who didn't care that are highly productive good and God fearing people. I would guess that over the years of my working in Corrections at least 75 per cent of convicts had the Church in their life up to their late teen years.

I think it is because starting with the greatest generation, each generation wants it better for their kids and we don't pass along the morals and values the older generations had.

How it would be too expensive to install metal detectors and security guards at schools...people have their priorities all jacked up these days. And I love football...not knocking the building of sports stadiums at all, although I think it's a little extreme in most cases. But good lord, what is more important?! A game, or lives?

    Carry on
    Thank You.

I will also add that Washington and every state house can find the money to protect themselves yet none of them even want to look at that same protection for our kids.

I think the parents are getting away with some of this.....parents dont pay attention to what some of their kids are doing, dont check up on their FB pages, dont spend time with them, talking, lock up the guns in safes,etc....its always after it happens its "i didnt know anything was wrong", etc......some parents are to worried about being "friends" with their kids vs. being a parent.......just my opinion...

Jeff - I applaud an intelligent post about the topic.

Another senseless tragedy. We need to harden our schools and stop prescribing these psychological pills so easily. These drugs mess kids up.

Unfortunately you can't stop crazy, but you can limit the damage crazy causes. I believe responsible concealed carry in schools is the answer. This along with metal detectors and uniformed officers.

We also need to smack a kid in the ass when they deserve it.

Thier was a video on Facebook today of an old toy gun commercial. There was no school shoootings back then. What changed?

What changed, we could start with social media, television, a pill for everything and Adults who have no value of life and i'm sure there are more

Instead of building a wall on the Mexican boarder build walls like prisons around the schools. Have armed guards at posts there and a gate with searches and metal detectors. Yes won’t happen, too expensive and ridiculous but it would work. But what can really be done? Nothing I’m afraid.

Concerning the idea of metal detectors, answer me this. Would they have stopped the Molotov Cocktail(s) that were reported to be in the school building? You will not hear any call for a ban on glass bottles with a flammable liquid and a tee shirt sleeve as a wick, only guns. My point being, save your argument for gun control. YOU CAN NOT STOP EVIL!

Here we go... A couple of weeks of people acting like they give a crap, finger pointing and political grandstanding yet no one in power has balls enough to step up and make any real changes......It's total BS..
