    V8 250 Pro XS

Talking with the owner of this new motor that is on his new Nitro Z20 and found out something interesting. He hasn’t got to run the boat yet but it came with a 23 Fury prop. If this turns out to be the correct prop you won’t see Mercury dropping 2 strokes and stay in the bass boat business. He said rpm range for motor is 5600-6200 rpm. I hope this new motor is not a flop performance wise. Most people are running 25 Fury props on the Z20.

I ran the new Merc 250 4/stroke and it is an awesome outboard, it will throw you back in the seat running 45mph, excellent hole shot, and about the same top end as the proxs, maybe a little faster. Overall it is going to be a great engine.

Assuming same gear ratios. But also to maintain higher rpms.

It would be nice if they published the weight specifications, they only state smallest model as being 505 lb

Looks like it reads that the 200 thru 300 Pro XS’s are 505 pounds and the 175 Pro XS is 475 pounds. I guess if you upgrade to the power steering it will weigh more.

That V8 muscle sound on the Pro XS and R Series does sound good. I know they have a button to push to make them very quiet if you need to go to stealth mode.

My understanding is the "button" is on the standard models. The Pro XS is a tuned exhaust system with the ports for the V8 sound.

Silent Choice for outboards. The saltwater guys will love that for trolling.
