    Electronics?

When i'm fishing shallow for bass i turn the front depth finder off. Is this a good practice for fishing for crappie?

I rarely turn mine off and have not experimented with it but i may give it a try this summer when they hit the tree pattern.

I fish a oxbow in a pirogue quite often that has a max depth of 11ft and never turn mine off. The way sound carries in the water I'd think if the front one would be a problem the rear would also.

Sound doesn't bother crappie like bass. I fish under bridges quite a bit...if the noise of cars and trucks going over the bridge doesn't bother them, no way sonar will.

Now big solitary bass...that's a different matter.
