    Hip surgery again!

Well sitting in a recliner at the University Medical Center in Jackson,Ms. Had right hip replacement 5 years ago and it has done okay, not great but will tolerate it. Had left hip done a year and 8 months ago. Never worked good and at times it would put me down for a few days. I was referred to a revision specialist last October. He quickly told me my hip was installed improperly and developed Staph infection. I had the old prosthetic taken out on Feb.12. Had a port installed and took 7 weeks of Vanc 3 times a day and oral antibiotics until a couple weeks ago. Yesterday I had the new fake hip put in . Missed the entire fishing season so far,but hopefully I will be back at it by early fall. Now I need to heal. I'm cut from the top of hip to the back of my knee. If some of you don't mind, pass a few prayers my way. Don't normally ask people to do this for me. All my friends have kept me in their prayers but would appreciate it if my Champion family would also. I believe the prayers and well wishes will help even if you don't really know me. Tough times but when I take a look around me, I can see people in much worse shape. I miss the little things I can't do now worse than anything. I am a doer not a good sitter. Thanks Ron

Yes,thank the Lord! I made a huge mistake letting a local touch my hips to begin with. The wait to see my new doctor was well worth it. Should have done more research on the original surgeon. Live and learn. Thanks for the prayers!

Hopefully getting to go home today. I am moving slowly but doctors think I am ahead of schedule. 4 hour ride to my house so will sit on a big whoopy cushion. I can put weight on this one as tolerated. After being on one leg for so long,it sort of feels strange. Hope everyone is doing well this morning!

So sorry to hear what you have gone through, Ron. Hard to believe that a top 10 hip replacement surgeon in the U.S. is close to you in Muscle Shoals.

Hope you continue to improve, as you have been through such an ordeal.

My wife has a knee replacement scheduled Tuesday in Huntsville. The superstar surgeons are the same price to us as a bad surgeon, and driving an hour is well worth the peace of mind.

My buddy had the same issue. Had the right done and it worked fairly well. Had the left done and it did not. They did the surgery again using a different part. Ended up getting $150000 in a class action suit for the defective part. Good luck and heal up.

I will check in from time to time. At home and really hurting after a 4 hour drive. Really just surgical pain. Start therapy tomorrow.
