    Chester County Bass Masters May 12th Upper Bay Open Results

    Chester County Bass Masters held their 1st of five opens for the 2018 season on May 12th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

    63 Teams showed up on a cloudy spring Saturday in search of a 5 fish limit of Upper Bay black bass. The largemouth were moving into the shallows the week leading up to the tournament with reports of plenty of big fish being caught..

    A major storm front / lightning moved thru the area between 3:30 and 5:00 Saturday morning dumping a good bit of rain on the Upper Bay region.
    Air temps at launch were around 60 with a light wind. The tournament launched at 6:00 under cloudy skies with a forecast high of 75. Winds picked up mid morning to the normal 10 - 15.

    Water temps were in the 67 - 70 degree range depending on where you fished. Water color was a little muddy in some areas with the runoff from the storm.
    Launch was on incoming tide with high around 9:00.

    Two flights went out with the first flight due back at 2:30 and second flight at 2:45.

    15 five fish limits were brought in with 3 other teams having 4 fish. 17 double digit weights were brought to the scales.
    15 bass over 4 pounds were weighed in.
    3 bass over 5 pounds were weighed in.

    13 cash places were paid, along with 10 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Bass Cat, River Bottom Reels, Cabela's of Christiana Mall, Sunoco, Hi Seas fishing line, Zee Bait Company, Solar Bat Sunglasses, Boomerang Tool Company snips and GRT Jigs.




    16 boats participated in the winner take all $ 60 option pot.
    For the 4 remaining Opens, the Option pot will pay out 2 or 3 spots determined by number of participants.

    $ 6,116 in cash was paid along with $ 550 in sponsor prizes.

    First place cash payout and a championship plaque went to Steve Bowman. Steve found the right bites to bring in a 5 fish limit of 22.18 Lbs to take home a nice chunk of change.
    Included in that impressive bag was the CCBM Tournament Lunker, a 5.75 fat girl that was worth an additional $ 620 in lunker payout.

    Second place cash went to the team of Luke Shrader and Cliff Humphreys, the 2015 CCBM Open points champion looking to get back on top. The team put together an outstanding 5 fish limit weighing in at 19.57 Lbs.

    Included in that bag was a 5.53 Lb. big girl that was the Susuquehanna Fishing Tackle 2nd lunker for the tournament, winning them a $ 50 SFT gift card.
    Congrats on an exceptional performance.



    Third place money was won by the team of Steve Hannah and Russ Wright who brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 17.57 Lbs.
    The team also took home the Bass Cat marine parts store 3rd lunker award, a $ 50.00 gift card to the parts store with a big fish of 5.05 pounds.

    Steve and Russ were also the top placing team in the $ 60 Option Pot, taking home an additional $ 960 for their efforts
    Impressive bag and winnings on a tough day.



    Fourth place dough was earned by the team of Reno Regalbuto and Troy Polhamus who weighed in a 5 fish limit for 17.56 Lbs with a big fish of 3.80 pounds, another good limit of Upper Bay bass.



    Fifth place coin went to the team of Travis Manson and Eric Galasso who weighed in a nice 5 fish limit of 17.36 Lbs with their big bass going 4.14 pounds. Great work on the day.



    Sixth place cash was collected by the team of John Schoener and Bobby Oberly who brought 5 fish to the scales for 16.63 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.10 lbs.



    Seventh place money was snagged by the team of Mark Ely and Jerry Gerlach with a 5 fish limit weighing 16.12 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.96 pounds. Nice work.




    Eighth place money spot was secured by the team of Mike Piccolo and Bill Ville who had a 5 bass limit for 16.09 pounds with a big bass of 4.79 pounds.

    Ninth place cash was collected by the team of Jason Basta and Jed Steiner who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.84 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.26 lbs.



    Tenth place money was collected by the team of Steve Weimar and Zach Weimar who brought 5 fish to the table for 14.54 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.90 lbs.



    Eleventh place cash went to the team of Dennis Bianco and Don Wood who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.11 Lbs.

    Twelfth money spot was won by by the team of Ron Calderia and John Oldaker who brought 5 fish to the scales for 13.43 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.90 lbs.



    13th and final cash spot was won by the 2017 CCBM Open point Champs Keith Cowan and Nate Cowan looking to make it 2 years in a row. The team brought in 5 bass for 13.15 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.49 pounds.



    14th thru 16th spots won gift cards from Cabela's Christiana Mall, Zee Bait Company and River Bottom Reels.



    First team to finish just out of the money was awarded a $ 50.00 gift card from Cabela's at the Christiana Mall.
    14th position and the The Cabela's card went to Coty Camp and John Gomez who brought 5 bass to the scale weighing 13.09 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.15 lbs.



    15th place earned a $50.00 River Bottom Reels repair/service gift card. RBR repair any make /model reels, located in Elaizabetown, Pa. Tyler Ashby weighed in a limit of bass for 13.06 pounds with a big fish of 4.15 lbs.



    16th place earned a $ 50 Zee Bait Company card. Greg Plank and Kim Noeth were one short of a limit with 4 bass for 10.54 Lbs, with a 3.83 big fish.

    17 thru 21st spots won sponsor prizes from Boomerang Tool Company, Solar Bat Sunglasses, Hi Seas Fishing Line, GRT Jigs and Sunoco.

    17th place received 2 pair of Boomerang Tool Company line snips, Duane Essick and Jay Pirollo weighed 3 fish for 10.09 lbs with a nice 4.06 big bass.


    18th place won 2 pair of Solar Bat sunglasses. Pete Faverio and Ron Gallowy brought in 4 fish for 9.92 lbs. to the scales.

    19th place earned a Hi Seas fishing line gift pack which went to Troy Rozenswieg and Brian Krout with 3 bass for 9.08 lbs.

    20th spot won a $ 30 GRT Jigs gift card which went to James Helmetag and Rick Pohlig with 3 bass weighing 9.02 lbs and a 3.96 big fish.

    21st position and the last sponsor prize a $ 25 Sunoco gas card went to Sam Montalto and James Hauck with 3 fish going 8.63 lbs and a 4.33 big fish.
